What is Tetra Pak packaging used by O.N.E. Coconut Water?*
O.N.E. Coconut Water is packaged in Tetra Pak cartons, a multi-serve aseptic package that keeps food and beverages fresh and flavorful for up to 12 months – without refrigeration or preservatives. It preserves the product color, texture, taste and nutrition, without the use of preservatives or additives.
Made mainly with paper from responsibly sourced, well-managed forests. When wood is harvested for building, furniture and other uses, the leftover wood chips are turned into durable Tetra Pak carton packages – making the package light and the carbon footprint small.
Q. What is aseptic packaging?
A. Aseptic packaging is a beverage and liquid food system widely used around the world and introduced to the United States in the early 1980s. An aseptic process is achieved by filling a sterilized package with a sterile food product within the confines of a hygienic environment. The Aseptic process includes flash pasteurization of the product where it is quickly heated and then cooled to minimize the cooking effect of the product. This production process and the packaging enables the product to be stored at room temperatures for many months.
Q. How do I recycle Tetra Pak?
A. Each municipality has different guidelines as far as recycling. Check the Carton Council's website for a list of communities that recycle cartons or check your municipality website for specific, city-related recycling rules.

1989: the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) puts aseptic processing and packaging technology No. 1 on its list of the 10 most important food science innovations of the century.
Why? Well, aseptic technology keeps food safe, fresh and flavorful for up to 12 months – without refrigeration or preservatives. It preserves the product color, texture, taste and nutrition. And the aseptic package barrier layers provide the ultimate protection by locking in taste; sealing in freshness; and sealing out light, moisture and air.

Tetra Pak cartons are 70 to 81% paper, a renewable and renewed resource.
With one of the lowest product-to-package ratios, the carton is only 5% of the weight of your beverage.
Less package weight = fewer trucks for transportation = less oil = fewer greenhouse gas emissions.
Because of its unique multi-layer protection, it needs no refrigeration for transport and storage.
