What is the difference between coconut milk and coconut water?

O.N.E. Coconut Water is simply the water from inside the young, green coconut. It is a clear liquid with no fat or cholesterol. Coconut milk is a white liquid obtained by extracting the juice out of the coconut meat of a more mature (brown) coconut. Coconut milk and coconut water are very different in taste, appearance and nutrient content.

Does it taste like coconut?

O.N.E. Coconut Water has a sweet water taste. It tastes very different from coconut milk, which is not as sweet. Coconut Water comes from the young green coconut, not the brown, furry ripe coconut.

Is O.N.E. Coconut Water flavored water?

O.N.E.'s plain Coconut Water is simply the natural water from inside of a green coconut. There are no added sugars, water or preservatives. There is only O.N.E. ingredient! If you would like a splash of flavor, O.N.E. Coconut Water with a Splash adds fruit juices like pink guava, pineapple and mango.

Why have I never heard of this before?

For centuries, coconut water has been enjoyed in tropical areas around the world like Brazil, Thailand, the Philippines and India. However, when you chop off the top of a young green coconut, the water begins to oxidize immediately and is only good for approximately three to five days. Now with Tetra Pak and its new packaging technologies, coconut water can be packaged in its natural form (not from concentrate) with minimal processing without preservatives.

Is O.N.E. Coconut Water raw?

Our coconut water undergoes a light pasteurization process. First, it is filtered naturally through the coconuts’ own dense fibers. Then we submit the natural coconut water to a light pasteurization process known as High Temperature Short Time (HTST). This 151-degree thermal treatment eliminates any microorganisms without harming or changing the integrity of the nutrients, leaving the coconut water sterile, pure and delicious, just like at harvest time. According to the FDA, it is important to have the product pasteurized for consumption.

Is O.N.E. Coconut Water organic?

We source our coconuts from growers who do not use pesticides, however some use non-organic fertilizers.

Does it have to be refrigerated?

Before being opened, O.N.E. Coconut Water does not have to be refrigerated. However, it is best served chilled. After opening the carton container, O.N.E. Coconut Water can be kept refrigerated for several days. All O.N.E. Drinks are aseptically packaged in Tetra Pak cartons – meaning they do not touch light or air until you pull the silver tab.

Can people with diabetes drink coconut water?

Please check with your physician before consuming coconut water if you are a person with diabetes.

What does O.N.E.™ stand for?

One Natural Experience. However our founder, Rodrigo Veloso, always says it also stands for “Opportunity Never Ends.”

I have heard coconut water is a great hangover cure? Is this true?

As we all know, alcohol dehydrates you, and when you are dehydrated you cannot regulate heat as well as you should, your kidneys may become stressed, you may lose energy, and your endurance may suffer. O.N.E. Coconut Water can be a good source of hydration–better even then water. Does it work for hangovers–give it a try and decide for yourself!
